On Tuesday, the tourism authority of Chinarelaxed a rule regarding the postponement of few tourism trips in areas where there are COVID-19 cases. It is part of the Chinese government’s efforts to make its reactionto the virus more targeted.

Tourism is clearly among the hardest-hit industries under China’s “dynamic COVID zero” strategywhich requires each outbreakto be identified and controlled as speedily as possible. This policy required limits on people’s movements that arenon-essential with the occurrence of the regional outbreak.

The new parametershave been issued by the Chinese Culture and Tourism Ministry. It says that travel agents are suspended from creating group tourism trips taking into consideration a county that has confirmed areas with high or medium COVID risks, along with areas outside the province where that particular county is based.

The new rules are lessseverecompared to the earlier blanket rule where it was obligatory for the travel agencies in an entire area to stop cross-province group tourism excursions, if there were small areas within the province exhibiting high or medium virus threat.
