Sufi Festival Organized by the J&K Tourism Department

In the UT of Jammu &Kashmir, the Sufi Festival was organized by the J&K Tourism Department. The festival was held at Sher-e-Kashmir International Convention Center (SKICC) located in Srinagar. The festival held is aimed towardemphasizing and publicizing the lessons of Sufis and Rishis in the Valley ofKashmir.
The festival was held in association with the Department of Culture, Waqf Board, Archives and Archaeology and Higher Education,KVIB. It was inaugurated by R. R. Bhatnagar, who is theAdvisor to the Lieutenant Governor.
In the course of the three-day festival, severalprogrammeswereheld at ChashmaShahi, SKICC andPahalgam, emphasizing the teachings of Sufis and the Rishis.
During the occasion, Mr.Bhatnagar said that Sufism provides anunderstanding of the inner self and our Sufis and Rishis have guided us toward the path of reaching that goal. He said that Sufism promulgates the principle of love,peace, kindness and improvement for mankind, regardless of any prejudicesorpartialities. Mr.Bhatnagar also said that it is necessary to know the basics of Sufism, since it gives us an awareness of what is helpful for people.
Other speakers present on the occasionunderlined the rich traditional treasure presented to J&K and stressed that it is essential to understand the significance of appreciating our heritage and making it a part of everyday life. The speakers also accentuated the need for sharing the heritages of saints with the rest of the world.
